I spent the eve of 2010 with my dearest friends and tried to eat as much of what I knew I’ll miss during this challenge. That included peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, popcorn and pasta.
TODAY however, was so challenging I couldn’t believe it! I woke up around noon, had a banana, 2 oranges and a glass of fresh apple juice for breakfast.
Within a couple of hours, I was almost starving and having all that yummy food around me was excruciating. I then decided to go to the Avenues for lunch and ended up at Le Notre since I knew they had a salad bar and I could choose whatever raw options they had.
In addition to the fact that I couldn’t order some Penne Arabiata (which would have been a good vegan alternative), the salad bar had asparagus, beetroot, potatoes, peas, eggplants and zucchini, all of which I couldn't touch because they were boiled or steamed and not raw! I eventually settled for lots of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, beans and some fresh mushrooms.

What really made my day was the dessert I had. I ordered the Lychee and Guava Salad. It had lychee, bananas, papaya and pomegranate dipped in guava juice. It was heavenly.

So, subsequent to this experience, I’m here looking up some raw vegan recipes to ensure that I don’t starve over the next year, or worse give up!
Cheers!
Aisha
